Fulfilment update, Data Seeds Volume 4 and other news...
about 2 years ago – Thu, Oct 20, 2022 at 12:56:37 AM

Hi everyone,

I hope you're all doing great! We have a few bits to round up for you, so let's get stuck in...

Non-US Backers

All non-US fulfilment is now complete and for the most part I believe that the vast majority of non-US backers have already got their books in hand. Other than a couple of very minor glitches which have now been resolved (one damaged book, one fiasco with customs holding a book for a week, and one book being incorrectly returned to sender), this process seems to have gone very smoothly.

If you are a non-US backer who is still waiting on thier books, please drop us a private message so we can look into it for you. So far I've heard from most areas of the world other than Australia (if you're in Oz and have your book, leave a comment below for my own piece of mind!) and so it seems that we've managed to hit most territories already.

US Backers

The most recent update on the US pallet shipment is that the stock is still on the water but is expected to arrive at US port within the next 7-10 days. I have been warned that most US ports are struggling with processing times at the moment, but I remain optimistic that we'll get these books though smoothly. Once they arrive with our shipping partner in the US, I'll post another update so you know that the books are on the way to you.

Once again, I appreciate the patience of all our US backers while we get these books over to you in an affordable manner - you're the best!

Got your book?

If you have your book, we'd love to hear about it - let us know in the comments, or hop over to the player's community group on Facebook and leave a post.

Finally, if you have downloaded your digital copy from DriveThruRPG, please consider popping back to the listing (here) and leaving a rating. Every rating the game gets, goes a long way to encouraging other people to check it out.

As if Hardware 2119 wasn't enough cool stuff, I'm excited to announce that today is the launch of Data Seeds Volume 4 - the fourth instalment of our mini digital releases. Each Data Seed Volume is priced just $1 and contains a handful of additional Data Seeds and NPCs - Bargain!!!!

You can grab Data Seeds Volume 4 by clicking here!

Volume 4 contains writing from myself, Bart Wynants and Matt Jones. This collection of four Data Seeds presents the Mercs with a complex art heist (of sorts), a job to deliver retribution for an angry mobster, a romp through New Europe's newest theme park in order to retireve some 'personal items' and a collection of Data Fragments for GMs to add further complication to other Data Seeds.

Picked up the other Data Seeds Volumes?

If you don't already own Data Seeds Volumes 1-3, now is the perfect time to grab them and add piles of new story ideas to your campaigns. You can find all of the volumes here on DriveThruRPG.

Evolution by Design

We've had lots of people ask about the next book for The Gaia Complex. We had previously stated that we'd begun work planning our next book, titled Evolution by Design, but I can now confirm that this book is being actively written. Not only is a full skeleton of the outline finished, but parts of the fiction and the majority of the rules content is already well underway.

What's it about?

More will be revealed as we close in on launching the next book, but I can reveal that Evolution by Design covers three key areas: ferals, vamires and AI - it could, in many ways, be considered three small supplements in one. This book will also mark the clock ticking into 2120, moving the timeline forwards one year; something I aim to do with each future supplement. I'll give some greater insight into these via our social media platforms over the coming months.

Who's involved?

Alongside my own writing, I've enlisted Bart Wynants, one of our regular contributors to bite off a few sections of the book - namely to flesh out elements that he created in previous data seeds or during brain storming sessions that we've previously had. Bart understands my vision of New Europe in a way that constantly surprises me and so I'm really happy he was interested in picking up a little bit of the writing duty. Like Hardware 2119, I'm hoping to line up some guest writers for a few Data Seeds and other elements, but this will occur closer to us running an actual campaign.

Of course, Jesús Blones, my partner in crime, will be back to create the stunning visuals that this book needs. He's already started looking at the front cover and we've had a long discussion about other essential art needed for this project. I'm super excited about some of the content we're going to present in this release.

When????

As for an actual Kickstarter - there will be a short delay before we launch another campaign. I have a couple of other small RPG projects I want to release (games that are complete and will ship as soon as projects end) before we run another campaign for The Gaia Complex. As such, I'm not committing to anything more than '2023' at this time. Plenty of time for you to digest Hardware 2119 first.

The Initiative Order - Live Play!

Our good friends at The Initiative Order have an awesome live play coming up. The stream starts tomorrow, October 19th, at 6pm PST - make sure you tune in! it has a great cast and a brilliant GM, so make sure you show them some love.

HInt Plays - Live Play

More live play action! Last Sunday, HInt Plays kicked off their new campaign for The Gaia Complex. If you missed the live stream, you can watch the whole first session on Twitch now, by clicking here!

Please go support them - we need more great content creators!

Runeslinger - Unboxing

One of our backers, Runeslinger, has been kind enough to post a really cool unboxing video for Hardware 2119 and say a few very nice words about both the way this campaign was run and the book in general. It would be remiss of us not to mention such high praise! You can check out the video here!

Thanks for the support!

Thanks so much for reading!

Until next time,

Shep

Fulfilment begins
over 2 years ago – Sat, Sep 17, 2022 at 01:22:10 PM

Hi everyone,

I am very excited to confirm that stock of Hardware 2119 is now in-hand here in the UK! Before we get into the details of what the next steps look like, I thought you'd like to see a few pics that I snapped of the copies I collected earlier this week...

Standard Edition
Limited Edition

For those of you who already own the core book, these have been printed with the same factory, to the same high specification, using quality paper stock and a nice matte finish to the cover. I'm really happy with the end result and I hope you'll love your copy when it arrives. Speaking of which...

Stock arrived this week at our fulfilment partner's (GMS Hobby Logistics) warehouse. I visited there at the start of the week to check everything over first hand and ensure the product was of the expected quality, dropped off the dice for the campaign and gave them the thumbs up to go ahead and start fulfilment. GMS are currently in the middle of getting another campaign out of the door, and given that this stock has been delivered around two months ahead of schedule (it had to happen on Kickstarter one day, right?), there had to be a slight delay before the books ship as we join the fulfilment queue.

Here is what the current timeline looks like:

  • USA - I was notified today that US orders have jumped the queue and have now been picked. These orders will be put on a pallet along with the US orders for a couple of other Kickstarter's being fulfilled by GMS and are due to set sail next week. The pallet freight journey to the US typically take 6-8 weeks, after which the orders are sent out via our US fulfilment partner. It was important to get US orders done first as they have the longest journey and so are actually most likely to arrive last. The sooner they were on the way the better, so a big thumbs up to GMS for ensuring these are on the way next week. All being well, US backers should get their books around mid-November. I know that the wait for new stuff can be agonising, but please try to remember that the fulfilment date for this project was Jan 2023, so really you're getting it two months early!
  • Everywhere else - Once the US pallets are on the water and GMS have completed their current project, they'll be moving on to the rest of our fulfilment list. Unless anything changes, our non-US fulfilment should begin on Monday 26th and take just over a week to get all of our books out of the door. Transit time differs from a couple of days (UK) to a couple of weeks in other parts of the world. Please give your parcel time to arrive. If you've not seen your books by mid-October and you are not in the USA, please drop me a message.
  • Local collection - If you selected local collection in Derby, UK, I have your copies in-hand and will message you directly over the next week to arrange pick-up.

Digital Fulfilment

Digital Fulfilment was completed a few weeks ago via DriveThruRPG, the details of which can be found in this update (CLICK HERE).

If you still do not have your PDFs, please get in touch so we can fix that!

Evolution by Design

I've started work on the next sourcebook for The Gaia Complex, which is titled Evolution by Design, and am very excited to share some details about this with you over the next few months. There has been a lot of planning gone into what I think will be an essential addition to The Gaia Complex and I can't wait to show you what this book is all about (not so subtle clue: ferals, vampires and AI).

Data Seeds Volume 4 on the horizon

We're also putting the finished touches into Data Seeds Volume 4, which like the first three volumes, will be a $1 release available exclusively from DriveThruRPG. If you've not picked up the first three volumes, go and do that now by clicking here! Expect to see Volume 4 in the next month or two.

Join the cast at The Initiative Order!

Our good friends at The Initiative Order put out a call for cast members for their upcoming 6-episode campaign of The Gaia Complex. In case you missed their social media posts, you have until the end of today (September 16th) PST-time to apply. Hit the link HERE.

Their game streams are constantly awesome, so we can't wait to see what they do with The Gaia Complex.

Other projects in the works - Rectify

Finally, I recently mentioned another upcoming release, unconnected to The Gaia Complex, titled Rectify. Rectify is a dark, solo RPG experience that plays unlike anything you've experienced before. If you're interested in Rectify or our other upcoming games, please follow the Hansor Publishing facebook page for more information (so we can keep this place all about The Gaia Complex).

Thanks for reading, thanks for playing, thanks for being cyberpunk!

Big love,

Books in print - first look!
over 2 years ago – Thu, Sep 01, 2022 at 01:57:20 AM

Hi all,

This is just a super quick update to let you all know that the printing of Hardware 2119 is complete! I received these quick pics from the printer this morning and wanted to share...

Front Covers:

 Back Covers:

Spines:

End Pages (the most vibrant green I could find!):

Next step is for the printer to transport the books from Lithuania to our fulfilment hub in the UK. The books should be en-route next week and I'll give you an update once the stock is in hand and we're ready to ship.

I can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy!

Until then, keep gaming!

Digital Fulfilment
over 2 years ago – Sun, Aug 21, 2022 at 02:00:16 PM

Hi all,

Just a quick note to confirm that digital fulfilment has now been processed!

Each backer expecting one of more PDFs (that's pretty much everyone that pledged more than £1), will shortly be receiving an email(s) from DriveThruRPG containing a link with their copy. If you're an existing DriveThru user then this should appear in your account, ready for you to claim and check out (at a cost of £0). If you are new to DriveThru, the email will contain all the info needed to claim your copy.

Please note that these emails are being processed at the moment, so don't worry if you have not had it yet, it can take a couple of hours for the process to complete. If you have not seen an email about this by the end of the day, or can't locate your copy within DriveThru, please check your email spam folder (the email address associated with your Kickstater account) before contacting us. If you still have not been able to locate your link, please send us a private message via Kickstarter and we'll get straight onto it.

About the digital version

The download includes both regular and 'print friendly' versions of the book(s). The print friendly version is the same as the regular, except it has had the graphical page textures removed to save on ink for printing. It still contains a front and back cover and all the artwork. Both versions are bookmarked for use with most common PDF readers and page references within the same book (such as the contents page and reference tables) are hyperlinked to the relevant place within the book, for ease of navigation.

There are no watermarks etc. so if you do choose to print your own version you don't have to contend with that being in the way of your reading pleasure.

Physical copies

As per our previous update, the books are now in the print queue with the printer and we are still being told that a shipping out date (from the print house) is expected for Sept 6th. We expect a transit time from the print house to our fulfilment partner to be around one week. I'll update everyone on shipping timelines once the books are on the way.

Whats's next?

Of course, fulfilling this campaign is our number one priority right now. Once this is complete, I'll be pushing on with work for the next sourcebook for the game - Evolution by Design. So far the outline for the book and its various sections is complete and I've begun writing the core fiction and plotting out certain rules sections. We'll share more information about this book in due course. We hope to run another campaign for it at some point in 2023.

Before our next sourcebook, I'll be returning to Kickstarter with a small zine-like RPG which offers a much darker solo gaming experience (not connected to TGC in any way). Keep your eyes peeled for more information about 'Rectify', later this year.

Data Seeds Volumes

One final note, while you're all over at DriveThruRPG. Please consider checking out our mini PDF releases - Data Seeds Volume 1, 2 and 3. They are small releases, each containing a handful of Data Seeds (our one-page adventure modules) and any info needed to run them. Each PDF is priced just $1 and offers hours of additional gaming content for The Gaia Complex.

Links:

Rest assured, volume 4 is in the works!

As always, thank you all so much for your support in making this book happen. We really hope you enjoy your digital copies of Hardware 2119 and can't wait to get the physical books into your hands.

Print files approved!
over 2 years ago – Thu, Aug 11, 2022 at 05:50:47 AM

Hi all,

I hope you're all doing great! Another progress update for you...

We are happy to confirm that our print files were delivered to the printer on time. The recommended amendments from the printer were addressed, implemented and have now been approved. As such, we are officially off to print!

Our timeline from the printer is that all books will be printed, bound and boxed over the next three weeks, with a shipping out date of September 6th. Transit time from the printer to our fulfilment partner in the UK is approximately one week. Once the stock arrives, we'll be moving the fulfilment stage.

I'll make a dedicated update about the fulfilment process to cover all the timelines and shipping details once the stock is in hand.

As per our previous update, pledge manager addresses are now locked! This allows us to get started on our fulfilment list, which will make our lives easier down the line. If you do need to change your address from here on out, please send us a message. Providing goods have not been despatched yet, then we should be able to manually change your address.

If you are one of the five backers that has not completed your survey, I've messged you over the last few days. Please get in touch so we can arrange for you to pay shipping and confirm your shipping address with us. I'll try to message these backers again just before we ship.

Our last few updates have all been admin - pledge manager, shipping, printing etc. As such, I thought it would be cool to share one of our final art pieces with you. Though vampires are The Gaia Complex's big bad, they don't always appear in games as blood hungry combatants. Many vampires are also shrewd businesspeople and kingpins of New Europe's black market. This image is simply titled 'Arms Deal' and shows that when buying illegal firearms, it's not always cold hard cash that dealers ask for as payment.

While we wait for the physical copies to ship, I'll be working on preparing the digital version of the book - there are a few differences to the version that is sent to print and, as with our core book, it will be bookmarked and linked throughout to make navigating the book even easier. I'll also be providing a 'printer friendly' version which has the page textures removed to save on ink should you want to print at home.

Once I've prepared these files, we'll be doing the digital fulfilment side of things immediately. I plan to have digital copies with people in the next two weeks, but please bear with me - I work full time and have two kids at home as it's the summer holidays. I'll get the digital versions out to everyone ASAP.

Digital fulfilment will be via DrivethruRPG. By default, this will be sent to the email address that you use for Kickstarter. If you need your copy sending to a different address (for example, if you use an alternative address for your DrivethruRPG account), then please message us directly with those details.

If you do not already have an account with DrivethruRPG, don't worry. You will recieve an email from them with instructions on how to access your digital copies.

I'll check back in when the printer sends me any images of the physical book. As always, if you have any questions, leave a comment or send us a private message.

Thanks!

Shep - Hansor Publishiing.
